Something About Followers

The Tony Burgess Blog

I have nearly 2500 followers on this blog. This is not to brag to but to bring up a larger point in that about 5% of them have regular engagement (commenting and liking). Perhaps it says something about bigger not always being better. Some of my fellow bloggers have 4 times the followers I do and have way more activity. I wonder if its the content or the person that keeps them coming back. In either case you have to offer something to keep people interested in you and what you are writing.

Sure there are case studies about such things but when it comes down to it you have to just be yourself and hope that can be the magic that draws people in. Everyone has their own sauce so to speak and the ingredients are as varied as their are recipes for this social thing.

But there is…

HOW TO TRANSFORM DEPRESSION TO HAPPINESS #goodbyedepression

Chibueze's blog

I’ve always wanted to write on this topic, even long before I started blogging, I always wanted to share my ideas and thoughts on depression and how it can be challenged. In this post I’m going to be giving points that will make you transform depression to happiness. Yes it might seem impossible but trust me if you follow these points very well, you will surely feel way better. Please be really patient with this post cause its going to be quite lengthy, but, it’s going to be worth it. Hope you like it…

When you’re depressed, it often feels like nothing in the world can make you feel better. Depression is a devious disorder, because the symptoms it creates can discourage you from completing the very actions or seeking the help that would begin your recovery. Lack of energy, low self-esteem and dwindling excitement are some of the…

Friendship comes from the most unlikely places in Roadside by Angie Dokos, but when one friend starts to have feelings for the other, will their relationship be damaged, even after all that they have been through?

Zayne and his dad find poor, lifeless Serena on the side of the road, and Zayne doesn’t want to leave her side until he finds out if she is okay. They take her to the hospital and eventually she becomes better, and Serena is more than appreciative and thankful for Zayne saving her life, for that she could never repay him.

Soon the two friends become quite close, and their friendship gains a strong bond. Though each one feels a certain way for the other, they aren’t sure where their relationship is going to go, and to be honest, each of them is scared to take the next step.

This book is perfect for…

Nature Pleading

E. Denise Billups, Writer

WordPress DAily Prompt - Nature Pleading 2

You howled along the coast like an angry host

accosting a frightened town with a category four

more  critical than ever before catastrophic floods rose

appose street rows and continued to rise

devastating priceless lives

transposing rivers on dry ground

drenching opposed citizens fleeing treasured abodes

lives shattered and unrecoverable but memorized

as they fled for higher ground

Your angry winds lashed Houston to a whipping post

wielding a woeful lesson in environmental education

taking lives presaging  global warming unheeded

til the next time you winds call

with cataclysmic pleading

for a smaller carbon footprint

#Bookreview for The Corner Office by Katerina Baker @KaterinaBaker #RBRT #romance

Tara is a high flying businesswoman who has been on her chosen career path for fifteen years and is now in with a chance of securing her ultimate job as Managing Director. The only person standing in her way is the particularly unpleasant Richard, her nemesis over those fifteen years.

At the beginning of the story, Richard arranges a ‘welcome to the company’ party for the new member of staff for which he has booked a stripper, then, sensing Tara’s disquiet over this, makes suggestive comments to her about threesomes.  I was less than convinced by his behaviour, generally, as these days there is a far greater awareness of sexism in the workplace than there used to be…

STAMPtember Blog Hop & Giveaway

STAMPtember HOP 600x264

Hi friends! It’s STAMPtember time and we all know this is huge!!! For my card today, I used the super cute Picture Book French Bulldog Die. I went with a pop art inspired design with a soft twist.

To create my card, I die cut some paper with the Picture Book French Bulldog Die and used them as stencils. Then, on my watercolor card base, I blended in 15 different shades of distress inks. This is so fun and it only took me 10 minutes! For the bull dog, I colored parts of the images with Copic Markers and left some parts white. For my coloring, I only used three shades – E97, E15 and W5. Easiest coloring ever!

For the sentiment, I die cut some black card stock with the You’re A Star Word Die. To pull everything together, I used a piece of vellum
